Welcome to
Korean Association in Sweden.

For those interested in Korea - culture, social activities, contacts

The Korean Association in Sweden was formed in 1961. The pioneers in the Society were Swedes who had done service at Swedish supported Korean hospitals or at the military commissions which were formed after the armistice between the Korean states. Also other groups of people have eventually joined the Society.

Among the members are business people, media people, and people interested in cultural subjects. The majority of  members today are parents of adopted children from Korea.

Purpose
"Strengthen and develop friendly relations between Sweden and the Republic of Korea through e.g. cultural and social events"

Publications
The Association issues a quarterly magazine, YOBOSEYO. Members can e.g. be regularly informed about the developments in South Korea through a summary of what is written in Korean papers. YOBOSEYO also contains many interesting articles. You can contact the editor in charge send  e-mail !

Activities
Recurring activities are excursions during spring time and a Christmas party. Lectures, film, cooking, music, and other cultural activities with connection to Korea attract our members.

Scholarship
Assuming availability of funds, we have a scholarship which can be given to a Swedish student who is studying Korean subjects.

Partners
The Association frequent and good contacts with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The personnel of the Embassy are often guests and often participate in our activities. The University of Stockholm is another partner as well as the Adoption Centre in Sweden, a society for Koreans in Sweden and a society for Adopted Koreans in Sweden.  Lately, our contacts with Swedish business companies in Korea and Korean business companies in Sweden have increased.
